Malcantone Trails
The Malcantone trails: immerse yourself in the history and nature of the region
From the Tresa Bay Hotel start excursions within reach of all, to experience all the natural beauty of our valleys and hills
From Ponte Tresa, where the Tresa Bay Hotel is located, directly starts stage no. 11 of the "Smeraldo Ticino – Lombardy path", which runs through the gorges of the river Tresa, then climbs and crosses some characteristic villages, until you reach Novaggio, where the stage of the path ends.
A postbus regularly leaves Novaggio and arrives comfortably in front of the hotel.
The "Traces of man" trail starts in the village of Castelrotto, just a few kilometres from Ponte Tresa and can be reached by postbus. It's a didactic path that reports testimonies of the activities of the man in the past. You can visit the ancient dairy, the "giazzera", a deep pit where snow was pressed and the rock, which was used for hunting birds. The trail then leads back to Castelrotto.
The "Sentiero del Castagno" (Chestnut Trail) is located in Alto Malcantone, reachable by public transport in three stages or by car.
It is a circular path that starts and ends in Arosio, the highest village of Malcantone and crosses the typical villages of Mugena, Vezio and Fescoggia, passing through birch woods, meadows, bridges and streams. The panoramic points provide a magnificent view of the surrounding valleys, the city of Lugano and the lake.
The Tresa Bay Hotel is strategically located to reach the indicated trails in a short time and also offers an enchanting view of the lake. Each room has a balcony overlooking the lake, where you can relax on your way back from the excursion, enjoying the breathtaking view.
Included in the overnight stay in a hotel is the Ticino Ticket, which allows you to travel free on all public transport in Ticino.
