There are three Borromean Islands: Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, each one unique and enchanting in its kind, celebrated for their beauty by writers and poets from all over the world, past and present.
Isola Bella has been transformed from a rock into a flowering garden, with ten hanging terraces, culminating in the Teatro Massimo and the large panoramic terrace overlooking the lake. It is the island with the most grandiose palace, of baroque architecture.
Isola Madre is the largest of the three, characterized by an English park full of rare plants, exotic flowers, peacocks and pheasants that are meet walking along the avenues. Here too we find an ancient palace open to the public, furnished with furniture of the Borromeo family.
Lastly, Isola dei Pescatori, the most touristy of the three, is occupied by an old fishing village, with various souvenir shops and restaurants on the lake.
